Bumblebee has always been one of the most popular Transformers in the famous franchise, and there has always been a wide range of Bumblebee toys available. The original Bumblebee action figure from the first generation of Transformers merchandise in the 1980s was a small toy that wasn't all that practical to use, but it was nevertheless one of the most iconic toys of the whole range.

Later incarnations of Bumblebee toys have been made to look more like the version of Bumblebee that was seen in the various types of animated Transformers shows. With these better versions of the character available, Bumblebee toys grew and grew in popularity. He was by far the most popular Transformers character next to Optimus Prime himself.

When the live action movies came around, Bumblebee found millions of new fans all over the world. He may have had a new design, but he was very much the same character that everyone loved from the classic era. There were regular sized action figures released, but these didn't completely resemble the character as seen in the movie. They had to be simplified a little in order for toys to be made, as the CG characters in the movie were so complicated.
