Bumblebee has found a new generation of fans thanks to the live action Transformers movies that have been wowing people all over the world, but he's always been a favourite with Transformers fans. Ever since the Transformers first came into the public eye in the early 1980s, the Bumblebee character has been a hit in the cartoons, the toys, the comics and more. Why is this?

It is probably down to the fact that Bumblebee is a bit of an Everyman character. While he's a robot from a far off planet, fans find him very easy to relate to. He's smaller than the other Transformers, and comes across as younger, more child-like, a little clumsy and very eager to please. It is these qualities in the character that has helped so many people of every generation of Transformers fans latch onto him. He's like a friend. He is also very, very courageous.

Bumblebee has been present in almost all of the Transformers' various incarnations, but it hasn't always been an easy ride for the character. At one point during the original Transformers era, Bumblebee was destroyed in battle and rebuilt as the character Goldbug. While Goldbug was popular, he didn't capture the imagination of fans as much as his previous incarnation, so it wasn't long before Bumblebee was back.
